My New Year Resolutions For 2012

Hello ladies,

We've reached that time of the year when everyone starts making changes and taking resolutions. To be completely honest, I had never thought of taking serious new year resolutions - they were always random ones I took spontaneously. But this year I've decided to take resolutions and actually write them down so that I don't forget them. 2012 is going to be a big year for me. It's my last year in school, my first year in university, I'm turning 18... You know all the important stuff. Here are my resolutions :

  • Drink more water. I don't drink enough water and it's bad for my skin and my body. I'm going to make sure I have a bottle of water with me at all times when I'm in school.
  • Moisturize my legs. The skin on my legs tends to flake a lot so I need to make the effort to moisturize them every night !
  • Stop procrastinating. Probably my biggest resolution ! I'm the most horrible procrastinator in the history of procrastinators - it's terrible. It needs to stop !
  • Work my ass off. I have my friggin baccalaureat to pass at the end of the year ! I need to work my ass off to get the grade my top uni is asking me to get. The pressure is on.
  • Blog more. I tend to slack on my blogging at times... In 2012, I'm going to make sure I get at least 2-3 posts per week. Hopefully more but I want this to be the minimum...
  • Keep my room tidy. How childish does this sound? But it's so true ! If I don't take care of my room it eventually gets into this mountain of mess and I don't want this to happen anymore.
  • Learn my lessons daily. In 2012, I want to be a good girl and learn the lessons I had during the day the second I get home. Need to get my head in the game.

There are my resolutions. They might appear as really crappy but I'm serious about this and if I breach one of these you will be informed ;) 2011 was a great year if you ask me. A year I will forever remember and hopefully 2012 is good to me.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I will see you all in  2012 bitches !

Lots of Love,

Laura

Melvita's La Petite Ruche

Hey girls,

Today I have a rather exciting post for you (I don't know I was just excited to share this with you...) ! A few weeks ago I was introduced to Melvita. Never heard of it ? Neither had I. But it sure is one of those brands you want to know of. Trust me.

Melvita was founded by biologist and beekeeper, Bernard Chevilliait. He moved to the South East of France with his brother to set up a bee farm and a few years later created Melvita, currently the largest certified organic brand in France. You can definitely feel that the founder wanted to share his love for nature and more specifically his love for Provence. He uses a lot of  ingredients such as lavender, rosemary, geranium, to name a few, all very Provence-y scents (I love.) and of course honey. I think this is enough information you need to know about the brand now let's talk products.

Before writing this post I tried on all of the products and I am in love. The main ingredients in this range of products are Thyme, Acacia, Orange Blossom and of course HONEY. Now if you suffer of dry skin then this is probably going to be your go-to product. Why ? Honey instantly replenishes lost nutrients, it thickens the dermal and epidermal layers of your skin and is able to treat the causes of dry skin to prevent it from coming back. Hello! What more can yo ask for.

Apicosma Skin-softening nourishing body milk* ( Full Size £17.50) feels amazing when applied to your skin. It absorbs so quickly and leaves your body feeling baby-soft. It smells of apricot which is weird because there is no apricot in the product but the scent isn't too strong and quickly goes away. Definitely going to use this on my legs for the next few days cause us girls all want to have schexy legs for the new year don't we ? ;)

Apicosma Repairing Lip Balm* (£7) is my new favorite lip balm. Hands down. The blend of Argan oil , Beeswax and Shea Butter leave your lips feeling oh-so-soft without leaving any residue. This is probably my favorite out of the 3 ! I can't stop applying it on my lips.

Apicosma Extra-Rich Hand Cream* ( Full Size £16.50) is going straight in my hand bag. I actually have this on my hands right now and they feel so soft ! Seriously. Go try it in store.

You can either get the gift set like the one I have ( IT'S ON SALE! FOR A WHOPPING £9.45 http://uk.melvita.com/organic-christmas-gifts-under--15-melvita-uk,8,1,4394,38574.htm ) or get them in full-size ! There are two Melvita stores in London : Putney Exchange or Covent Garden but you can also find their products at Whole Foods.

They have so much more products like beauty oils ( they have argan freaking oil. ), floral waters, bath&shower products, shampoo and lots more. I'm actually eyeing their Lavender Floral Water and their cuticle oil !

I hope Santa was good to you :)

Lots of Love,

Laura

TAG : This or That?

Hello lovelies,

I came across this tag on elleandblair.com and thought it sounded interesting. I tag all of you to do this one and then link your post or video in the comments !

Coke or Pepsi ? Definitely more of a Coke person. I don't drink it that often though !

Ice cream or frozen yogurt? Tough one. But ever since Pinkberry has opened in London, frozen yogurt has become my favorite snack :)

Clothes or makeup? Geez. Another hard one ! But I'm going to have to prefer... CLOTHES. Sorry makeup but clothes are just magical. Beautiful pieces that make you look better. I know we can say the same thing about makeup - whatever.

Hairspray or frizz lotion? I definitely don't have frizzy hair. I have the straightest hair in the existence of human beings (it's true okay!) ! So I guess hairspray.

T.V or book ? Neither. I don't watch TV or read books that often. Sadly, I think I watch more TV than i read. That has to change.

Pool or Beach ? Beaches are a lot more fun !

Water or Soda? WATER WATER WATER !

Sandals or Boots ? I love boooties! :)

Purse or backpack ? Hello, a purse of course.

Team Jacob or Team Edward? I'm Team Edward for sure ! AND Team Taylor Lautner.

Wizards of Waverly Place or Hannah Montana ? To be completely honest with you guys I have never watched either... Just never was interested in these TV Shows. I was more of a Recess/Kim Possible/Totally Spies kinda girl.

Mall or online shopping ? I am definitely a mall person. I like to see and feel what I buy.

Tennis or soccer? TENNIS ALL THE WAY!

MAC or maybelline? It's got to be MAC.

Lots of Love ,

Laura x

Easy Tasty Baked Tapenade Chicken

Hello there girlies,

I have been neglecting this space a little too much recently... Whoopsies ! But now that I am on holidays I'm going to be able to post so much more and maybe include a video or two :) Today I bring you this little dish that I made the other day when my mom wasn't in and that I had to cook. It is pretty much the easiest thing to do. Trust me !

These are the two main ingredients you are going to need : Boneless Chicken Breasts and Green Olive
Tapenade.

You are going to want to slit the chicken three times as you can see above.

Put it in a baking dish and cover the chicken with tapenade (the more the yummier). Then add some white wine, oil, cloves and slices of tomatoes and there you have it. Some yummy dinner done in seconds! If I remember well I left it to cook for 25-30 mins in the oven.

Dinner made in minutes and perfect for when you don't have time to do anything too complicated.

Hope you like it,

Laura

Oily Hair Problems

Hey girlies,

Are you suffering from thin, fragile hair that has the tendency to drop ? I may have found the solution for this. I suffer from oily hair which makes my hair weak therefore I suffer from hair loss. Not major hair loss or anything but my hair does drop and I don't exactly like that !

The first thing that came to mind when I first felt like my hair was weaker was I need to change my diet and take vitamins. It is important to have a healthy diet if you want healthy hair (same thing goes for your skin). You can also take vitamins like Imedeen hair & nails which is £23.49 for 60 tablets at Boots. It is a little steep but this really will help if you suffer from severe hair loss as there is a lot of biotin in these tablets. I thought I needed more of an overall vitamin which is why I went for the Wellwoman tricologic woman. It's loaded with all kinds of vitamins and of course biotin.

Once you have dealt with the diet part you just might have to change what you put on your hair. Starting with the shampoo you use.

I use Neutrogena's T Gel Shampoo for Greasy hair. What is important in the shampoo you use is that it needs to have the least chemicals possible! You will feel it when you use the shampoo because it won't foam as much as any shampoo. Aussie Shampoos are also good because they are low in chemicals and high in natural ingredients. For my conditioner I like Le Petit Marseillais range which resembles to Aussie except that you can only find it in France. These shampoos are so gentle you can use them everyday without worrying it will damage your hair.

So there you have it. I hope this helped anyone with oily hair !

If you have any other recommendations feel free to leave them in the comments below :)

The Sunday Post #03

Hello girlies,

Finally I am on a break ! School is over... for two weeks. I know it's not much but I just needed it.

001. We had a rather relaxing week at school with the teachers going on strike and no tests. Pure bliss. The teachers have given us heaps and heaps of homework to do during the break though! Which is not good news. Ha.

002. I finalized my Christmas presents on Wednesday. I actually had my own money to spend on people this year and it felt so good. I used to love receiving presents but I think I love giving just as much :)

003. Christmas dinner at Carla's was amaze balls. Foie Gras and Sushi were involved. I know they don't go together but it was SO yummy.

004. OMFGSWDIHWID Augustine gave me another Essie Nail Polish for Christmas and Astrid got me nail polishes from Topshop. Yeah, people know me as the nail polish addict. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU girlies. ( I know you'll be reading this Gus :p )

005. Got a new Comptoir des Cotonniers coat on Saturday! Will feature it in a post sometime soon :)

006. It's my sister's birthday today so we went to Tsunami (Japanese restaurant you need to check out) and now we are going to cut her cake. Yum.

On that note, I am going to leave you because it's cutting-the-cake time :) Have a lovely Sunday evening. I think i'm going to watch a bit of telly tonight ! I never do...

Ciao bambinas,

Laura

What I Wore Saturday #03

Hey girlies,

Sorry for being a little late on this post ! I took the pictures late last night and obviously I forgot to take a picture of my shoes. How intelligent ! Anyway, I wore a pretty simple outfit yesterday. A comfy laid-back outfit. Just what I love.

Blazer - Topshop

T-Shirt - River Island

Leggings - H&M

I paired this outfit with gray studded boots from Nine West. Now I regret not having taken a picture with the shoes on... Promise next week I will have a picture of my whole outfit. Wait a second, next week is CHRISTMAS ! Wooooop :)

Till then ,

Nutrasome Thickening Shampoo And Serum by Revlon

Hey girlies,

I have been suffering from hair loss recently... Not sure what it is, if it's because I have a very oily scalp or because I have thin hair or if i'm stressed out ! But I was determined to find a solution to my problem and fast ! So off I went to my local Boots to purchase this Nutrasome thickening shampoo and serum. Beforehand, I had read a few reviews which convinced me to buy this.

Claims: The unique formulation in Nutrasome Thickening Shampoo contains TriOxyl Complex which glides through the hair without damaging hair strands. It is designed to penetrate down to the root of each hair strand, increasing its flexible strength and works on the outside to help hair feel thicker, look thicker and be thicker.

This sounds like an amazing product, don't you think ? I mean if you saw this product in-stores and just read the description and the claims you would fall for it. Just like I did. I should have known this was just some rubbish talk! The Shampoo and the Serum worked pretty well during the first week. My hair had a lot more volume and it wasn't dropping as much which really reassured me. As I came into my second week of using this product, I felt my hair wasn't as strong as it was in the last few days... Imagine how annoyed I was. So what can I say about this product ? It works but only for a week. Definitely not what you can call a "good" product. So although the description was well written this is definitely not something I could recommend for someone suffering from hair loss.

But thank god I found a whole new hair routine with great products and I will do a whole other post on that so keep your eyes peeled ;)

The Sunday Post #03

Hey girlies,

Instead of a picture this week I have my favorite song of the week. Don't you just love it ?

001. I have been UB-SESSED with Vlogmas videos. I even considered doing it myself but then realized that my days would probably be too boring for you. You want to know what my daily routine is? Easy. Wake-up. Eat. Go to School. Eat. Work. Sleep.

002. After watching Allthatglitters21, I discovered this new TV Show called Hart Of Dixie. Believe it or not I absolutely adore it. Rachel Bilson is on it as well ! Watching her reminds me of The O.C

003. If you live in the UK then i'm sure you are following The X Factor Final this week? Yeah well can I just say this year's Final pretty much sucked. As I write this post the winner has yet to be revealed but I predict Little Mix is going to win. And i'm sure everyone think they're going to win !

004. We finally put out christmas tree up ! I'm just hoping it's going to snow before christmas !

Alright that's a wrap. I am going back to watching Hart Of Dixie !

Have a lovely Sunday Evening,

Laura

L'Oreal Glam Shine 6h

Hello girlies,

Hope your week is going well ! Today I have a review for y'all. Feels like ages since I actually did one of these.

L'Oreal Glam Shine 6h in Red Charm

Recently, I have been grabbing more lipstick than lip glosses. But that changed when I found this lovely red gloss. If you are, like me , afraid of wearing red lipstick then this is just what you need. The red isn't too dark but it still is RED. It completely changes your look with just one swipe of it and believe it or not it stays on for such a long time. Longer than your regular lip gloss anyway ! My favorite thing about this lip gloss is it's applicator. I could just swipe this on everyday without stopping! The applicator is SO soft and it's just pleasant to apply this on your lips. This has definitely been my go-to lip product for the last few weeks. Definitely worth a try and I couldn't recommend it enough at this point. It is available at Superdrug and Boots. So go on and give this one a go :)

Price : £8.69

{Oxford Street this Saturday!}

001. First of all, I have no idea where this week went ! It just flew away and we are just 3 weeks away from Christmas. And I finally know what I want.... Hehe

002. I had to prepare dinner on most night's with my mom not being at home. It's been pretty challenging but here I am still standing. ( By the way, I have a new recipe for those lazy night's coming up very soon.

003. Started of the week-end with some Christmas shopping on Oxford Street with Carla ! Glad they closed down the roads so that people could actually walk freely.

004. I saw a celeb this week-end. Hell to the yes I did. Her name is SOPHIA GRACE. If you follow me on twitter then you might have seen the sneaky picture I took! Hehe If you guys have never heard of her well you might want to click here. Uh-mazing girls. We saw her with her parents and Rosie in front of this Italian restaurant and they were both in their PINK TUTUS. Attention-seeker much ?

005. Tennis freak I am, I watched the Davis Cup Final. One word on Rafael Nadal : Genius. He won it and what an ending to this season of Tennis.

006. Tonight is the Results on X Factor and we are finally going to know who is going through to THE FINALS. I'm for Amelia Lily all the way. So good luck to her.

Brissi Fruits d'Epices Candle

Hello lovelies,

I have a rather relaxing post for you today. We are definitely in the winter-y months period, you know that moment when everyone is lighting up their candles and cuddling up in bed with tea. Yeah, that time of the year. But I feel like to make the experience complete it is necessary to have the perfect candle.

This candle is simply marvelous. It smells of Mulberry, Vanilla and Pepper and I have never smelt anything quite like this. It smells divine, not too overpowering just a very subtle scent that lingers in your room even when the candle isn't lit. The scent is so relaxing and I love lighting the candle whenever I get in bed to watch a movie or when it's a chill night ! They last for such a long time as well so even if they are around £22, they are of top quality and they will not disappoint.

What are your favorite candles during the winter months ? Please share I am always on the lookout for more :)

Recently Purchased

Hey girls,

Last week I caved and bought two items I am so deeply in love with. Haha ! That actually sounds weird but these right now are my two babies and I don't think I could live without them. I will do individual posts on them as soon as I am ready to review them and talk about them but for now just... admire them.

Yes, I have joined the band wagon and I am now the proud owner of the Jemma Kidd Light as Air Foundation ! I have been using this foundation for a little more than a week and... okay i'm just going to put it out there: I LOVE IT. As I said before, I will be doing a separate review on it so stay tuned for that.
Boy Oh Boy... I splurged on an Essie Nail Polish as well. You may have read it in my Sunday Post but over the week-end I received my first offer from a Uni which I never thought I would get an offer. To celebrate that I went from Selfridge's to Harrods to find the color I wanted! I was looking for the perfect light pink and  I found exactly what I was looking for. Neo Whimsical is the perfect light pink that isn't too light and not too dark either. Like I said, PUR-FECT.

Do you treat yourself to stuff you don't usually buy whenever you get good news? It's the best way to give yourself a pat on the back ;)

Pret A Manger's Chocolate Moose

Hello lovelies,

Yes you read the title of the post right. I am talking about Chocolate Moose in today's post ! On Friday evening as I was walking toward's my bus stop to go home I walked past a Pret a Manger and couldn't resist picking this up. This just shows how much of a food addict I am. Spend a whole day with me and you'll know what I'm talking about ;)

Basically, this chocolate mousse consists of three layers from dark to light. The bottom layer is just chocolate mousse, the second layer is milk chocolate mousse and the top layer is whipped cream. Holy moly , this stuff is friggin good. Each layer compliments each other just superbly and I have nothing to say about it. After all, I am a chocolate addict and you are probably thinking she loves anything chocolate ( which is true). But, the chocolate used in this mousse is exceptional and it is no cheap yucky-taste chocolate. This will for sure be my go-to dessert now every time I go to Pret !

I thought I ought to share with you this amazing discovery !

Have an amazing day lovelies,

Laura

The Sunday Post #01

Once again, I am starting a new series on the blog which,as the title indicates, will be called the Sunday Post. It will basically be rounding up my week because I feel that I lack personal life posts on the blog... Non ? Without further ado, here is my first Sunday Post.

001. This week started off with me being sick which was not exactly funny as I had my A Levels Swimming Test. I obviously had to be at the top of my game which is why I freaked out a little.

002. I purchased my first ever "high-end" foundation which I am absolutely in love with. More on that on a separate post :) You've got to leave a little suspense on here once in a while or it ain't funny!

003. While sitting at Pinkberry in the Selfridge's Food Hall I discovered my first offer from my Top 3 choices for Uni. Holy Crap you should've seen my face I was in disbelief.

004. To congratulate myself I purchased an Essie nail polish ! You are probably thinking seriously? An Essie Nail Polish!? But I am in love and I have been staring at the bottle ever since I got it.

These posts may or may not be interesting for you... I like being nosey once in a while and I think these posts are great for that ;) Tell me what you think about these new series on the blog !

Karl Lagerfeld Diet Coke

That's right Karl Lagerfeld collaborated with Coca-Cola to design their bottles. You probably knew all of that.

Notice that I un-capped it ? Yeah, I drank it ! I guess I can now decorate my room with this bottle. How? I don't know but I'm going to figure something really cool. LOL

Super random post for you but don't you think these bottles are just crazy awesome? Do you own any of these limited edition coca-cola bottles ?

Origins Zero Oil Pore Purifying Toner

Holla girlies,

It is finally Friday night and what better way to spend the night blogging ! It may sound like I don't have a life but I seriously like to blog when I don't have anything to do. Alright, let me go straight to the point of this post which is a review on an Origins product !

I suffer of really big pores and if you are in the same position as me you know how annoying it is. We all want to get rid of those massive pores and I went over to Origins hoping to find something that would work for me.

Claims: This invigorating,multi-tasking toner formulated with skin-clearing Saw Palmetto, cooling Mint and pore minimizing Salicylic Acid instantly reduces shine and removes excess oil. Leaves skin with a smooth, matte finish.

As you can see I have used this product a whole lot but was I actually pleased with the results ? Yes and No. I really like this product because I felt like it actually cleaned my pores because of the tingling feeling you get. At first, I wasn't really pleased about the "pore minimizing" part because I had some really high expectations but I learned that you can completely close up your pores. You can only minimize them and this did help. I actually used this day and night ( as directed on the bottle) and I found it a bit too drying so I ended up only using it at night. It did help but still I felt it was maybe too strong for my skin. I have oily and sensitive skin especially in the T-Zone area so it's not like this wasn't made for me ! So I kind of have mixed feelings about this one... If you have sensitive skin then this definitely won't be for you because it is way too strong and drying. If you just have big pores and oily skin give this a try ! It's got a lot of natural products in there which is what I really like about Origins.

Hope this was helpful for some of you and have a lovely Friday night :)

Sally Hansen's Continous Treatment

Hey lovelies,

I was on the lookout for a top coat this summer and when I came across this product I thought it was perfect. A base and top coat all in one ? I had to get it.

Claims: base coat, an exclusive formula with Marine Kelp seals and soothes nails while locking on color for up to 10 days. top coat  patented time-release technology protects any nail color and delivers brilliant shine for up to 10 days.

The base coat protects your nails like it is suppose to do. It doesn't make your nails go yellow which is something you want to take into consideration especially if you are a nail fanatic like me. The top coat works pretty well too. If you use Barry M nail polishes with this it won't last you the 10 days they promise but more like a 3-4 days. After those 3-4 days your nail polish will start chipping. If you use any other sort of nail polish like Ciate or Rimmel , it works perfectly well. I love the top coat because it really does make your nails shine a lot more and it just makes your nails look neat. All in all, I was pretty happy with this Base and Top coat but i'm not sure I will be repurchasing... I will try other Sally Hansen base and top coats though.

You can find this base and top coat at Boots for £9.65. Yes it is under another name because I purchased mine in Singapore but it is the exact same product !

Do you have any other good base or top coats to recommend ? I am looking for more !

Sleek Lipstick in Candy Cane

Hello Everyone !

Yes, finally a post ! I went on a little trip to Biarritz in the South West of France during my half-term break and then i got a little too carried away with work... But I am back and I have a pretty cool review for you... It's Sleek's True Color Lipstick in Candy Cane !

The lipstick's packaging is just so simple and that's what I love about it. It's super small too which can be really practical if you already have a lot of products in your make-up bag.

Claims: A superb highly-pigmented lipstick enriched with Vitamin E which leaves amazingly rich shades on the lips with only a single coat.

I remember there being a hype in June about Sleek's lispticks and I though "Hmm, I should give it a try." because everyone was talking about how pigmented and long-lasting these were. So I popped over at my local Superdrug and literally spent an hour choosing which color I would take. The choice of colors is amazing ! Sleek definitely sticks to their claims. The lipstick is highly-pigmented ( i think it is proven in my swatch because i barely even touched my hand to swatch that for the top one! ) . Although some of you might be afraid of this, rest assured you can always tone it down a little by using your fingers to apply it on your lips. This is one of the most long lasting lipsticks I have ever used ! It will just stay on your lips forever. Not even joking here. It's lasting powers are actually one of the negative points about this... It may be super long-lasting and all but it is the hardest lipstick to remove from your lips. After swatching this I took my shower and i was scrubbing the lipstick off my hand and it was still there. The color just went off a little but it was still there ! 12 hours later there still is product on the back of my hand ! Crazy innit ?!

All in all, I still do really love this and Candy Cane is a perfect raspberry color which is "in" at the moment. I will definitely buy more of their lipsticks in the near future and I actually have my eye on a gorgeous red !

Sleek Makeup is available at Superdrug and there is an offer going on right now : 3 for 2 on all cosmetics ! So head over to your Superdrug and pick up some Sleek :)

Have a great day ,

Update

Hi everyone !

How are you all doing ? I was just on Blogger checking on new blog posts and thought maybe i should update my readers... I've been rather absent from my blog for the last week or so and i am so sorry about it ! I escaped from all the London craziness for a week during my half-term break and I went to the lovely Biarritz. Sadly, I forgot to take my memory card for my camera and i was unable to take any pictures whatsoever ! How intelligent of me.

I'm just listening to some music while writing this post ( Up To The Mountain - Kelly Clarkson - this is an amazing song)... I have so many reviews to write I just need to find the time. I'm thinking of doing a Everyday make up what do you think ? OMG i just glanced at the time and it is so super late. I need to sleep !

Apologies for this rushed post and I will be back very soon girlies

Lots of Love ,

Laura

maybelline pure liquid mineral foundation

This was the first ever foundation I purchased after seeing one of my classmates use it in class. She convinced me it was the best foundation she had ever used and little naive me believed her.

At first I really liked this foundation but the more I use it the less I like it. If you are looking for a foundation that actually covers blemishes or spots ( that's what foundations are for right !? ), this is definitely not the foundation for you. I would describe this foundation as a second color on your skin but not much of a coverage. It looks cakey and to be honest it makes your skin look worst. I know it sounds really harsh but it really does make your skin look horrid. The only positive thing about this foundation is that it doesn't break you out.

Hope this will help !
